WRITING DESK

Made of solid American walnut in the workshop of the Umeå School of Architecture in the north of Sweden. Made to write at. The table has no preference for a specific direction, with four sides and four drawers. It is found in the middle of a room with a light from above:

'And since in general the uplifting effect of this lighting method will continue to exist, rooms with light from above shall be preferred in that place in particular, where a peaceful reflection, where a deepening of revelations of science and art must be possible.'

The measurements of the desk and the drawers are based on the A series for paper sizes. The subtle corners of the support frame, the joints between the legs and the two horizontals of the frame is realised in the smallest possible measurements. Solely in wood.

The wood has been carefully selected and processed for this furniture piece. The pattern of the wood in the top continues, always a mitre joint, around the corner and in the drawer fronts. One chance for every cut made!
